Cornerstone Circle August 23, 2016

In the game of checkers, chess, or golf, along with other sporting events, we often hear the words, “it's your move”, or” it's your turn”. Today's letter attempts to call us to a place of thanks and some thoughts on, "What God expects of us".

It's difficult to write today as I, in retrospect to several stops, heard these words uttered in the following displace of words " the statement", "Christians are some of the rudest people I know.."  Sadly I even hear Christians repeating these sentiments of themselves and others.  Honestly, what a day...and my first thought is,"If Christians are the rudest people you know,  you must not know very many people!"

My favorite people are Christians!  They are kind, loving, gracious, forgiving, and generous.  We help many that come to our doors, or a call from our Law Enforcement agencies.  We help with utilities, food, gas, getting someone or families to their next destination.  Sometimes even a room for the night.   We give to missions four different ways and to the   Samaritan Purse Christmas Child, and much more.  Members help with rides to the doctor, hospital, medical supplies, groceries, yard work, cleaning, lawn equipment repair, hauling off trash, picking up stuff for members and other people.   Also, members  make contributions, to keep things running around the Lord's house, again and much more. such as, picking up folks, members, others with a ride to weekly events at the church.

I've had to stop and revisit my Monday morning, it really didn't start well....and at the last stop I made these considerations:

1. Not all "Church-goers" are Christians. They may be in nice clothes at the table by you  but.......doesn't mean they are Christians.

2. Christians aren't perfect. Maybe with a few bad experiences, I may catch someone who is a genuine follower of Christ, but maybe was a bad day for them also.     Don't you have bad days? Doesn't everyone? You never know what is going on in a   person’s life.  Sometimes it's just better to cut them slack, and reserve comments.

3. Regarding the lunch moment...some folks are just stingy, and just maybe the waitress  just got stiffed. So, I think just do what’s right...be a blessing. Does not mean one can   give the whole world what they want. Just be awesome.

4. We can do better, always room for improvement, Galatians 6:10 says, “So then, as   we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are   of the household of faith."

The world casts insults our way, but we certainly don't need to help them in that department. If you have been a Christian very long, you probably know generally, Christians are the kindest, most loving, and most generous people in the World.  I, for one, am proud to be a member of Christ’s Church and be surrounded by those who are trying their best to follow Him!

Let's embrace the gospel, and do even more!

I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
